Tihar Festival

After the first two weeks in the school we hit another hindu festival (it seems like there are more holidays than actual work days here - not to complain of course!), the Tihar. The festival was really only one day, but we got four days off and enjoyed the opportunity. On the special day we gave tika's to our brothers and they gave tika's to their sister (which seems to be the only holy thing about the day). They didn't mind us not being Hindues and since they see us as family, we participated - lucky for us :) We gave our brothers Himal, Subas and Bidde tikas and presents from their parents. When we sat down to be blessed it turned out that our smallest brother, Himal, had bought us a present! Brand new saris! It was a very nice and beautiful gift, and he had even hand-picked the colours and pattern himself - he's only eight ears old and already a genius! He chose to give me a red one and Matilde a turqouise one which fit us both perfectly, thankyou bai :)
